On Digicams and the Ones I Love
a little love letter to the cameras in my bag
I am a digicam girl through and through. There is something about a small camera that makes me actually take photos, not just think about taking them. My phone is fine, but it is not the same as hearing a tiny shutter click while I am out with my friends.
My all time favourite is the Canon G7X Mark II. It lives in my bag, it has been to every dinner, every trip, every random night out. The colours come out warm without trying too hard, and it just feels like an extension of how I see things. If I could only keep one camera, it would be this one.
The Canon IXUS 130 is my soft spot. It is the camera I reach for when I want that early 2000s vintage feel, slightly grainy, slightly washed, the kind of photo that already looks like a memory the moment you take it. It is not technically perfect and that is exactly the point.
Right now I am really wanting to get my hands on a Canon G12. I love the chunkier body, the dials on top, the way it sits somewhere between a digicam and a proper little camera. I keep watching listings for it. Hopefully soon.
